Key & Remote Programming

Dealer-Level Car Computer Programming: If you’ve replaced your Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM), the car often won't start until it is programmed. Aguila Lock & Key connects directly to your vehicle's OBDII port to "marry" the new module to your vehicle.

TCM & TEHCM Programming (GM, Ford, Mazda)

Modern transmissions are controlled by a computer. When this module fails and is replaced, the car will often not start or shift until it is programmed. We specialize in the software side of transmission repair

GM TEHCM Flashing: On many Chevy and GMC trucks/SUVs (6L80/6L90 transmissions), the computer is inside the transmission pan. Once your mechanic installs the new unit, we come out to flash the VIN and calibration data so the vehicle will run.

Ford TCM & PCM: We program replacement modules for Focus/Fiesta (DPS6 issues) and F-Series trucks, ensuring the new computer communicates with the engine.

Adaptive Learning Reset: After a transmission is repaired or the TCM is replaced, the car needs to "re-learn" how to shift smoothly. We perform the Transmission Adaptive Learning procedures to stop rough shifting and hesitation.

Mazda TCM: Common on Mazda 3 and 5. If your "AT" light is on and you have replaced the module, we sync it to the vehicle’s immobilizer system.

Enhanced Ignition Repair Section (Specific to Honda)

The "Honda High-Security" Ignition Specialist: Honda and Acura vehicles (Civic, Accord, CR-V, Odyssey, Pilot) utilize a "High Security" laser-cut key system. These ignitions are notorious for failing suddenly.  Your key goes in, but it feels like it hits a brick wall and won't turn.

The Problem (Split Wafers): Honda ignitions use soft brass "split wafers" inside the cylinder. Over time, these wafers wear down and slip out of position, jamming against the cylinder wall.

Don't Force It: Wiggling the key aggressively or spraying WD-40 usually makes it worse. If you force it, you risk snapping the key off inside the lock.

Our Solution (Rebuild, Don't Replace): Many shops will tell you to replace the entire steering column assembly, which is expensive and results in you having two different keys (one for the door, one for the ignition).

The Aguila Fix: We surgically remove the ignition cylinder, remove the failed wafers, and install fresh, reinforced tumblers cut to match your existing key. You save money, keep your original key, and the ignition works as smooth as it did the day it left the factory.

Cost Comparison: Dealership vs. Aguila Lock & Key

Getting locked out is stressful. Calling a cheap, unskilled locksmith who damages your car makes it worse. At Aguila Lock & Key, we do not use coat hangers or aggressive methods that bend your door frame or tear your weather stripping. We use professional Lishi tools and automotive airbags to manipulate the lock cylinder to safely gain access. We treat you and your vehicle with the same "white glove" care that we've used for 10+ years.

Unlock FAQs

  • Q: Will unlocking my car scratch the paint or bend the door?

A: No. We use non-marring tools and protective sleeves. Our "Zero-Damage Promise" means your car looks exactly the same after we leave—just unlocked.

  • Q: My keys are locked in the trunk and the button won't work. Can you help?

A: Yes. This is common in newer cars with security features. We can pick the manual lock on the trunk or generate a temporary key to gain access without drilling or damage.

  • Q: How much does it cost?

A: Prices vary slightly by location and vehicle difficulty (e.g., a BMW is more than a Ford). Text us your location and car model for quick quote.

  • Q: Do you offer 24/7 service?

A: We prioritize emergency lockouts during our operating hours. Text (205) 516-4483 immediately to check our current availability.
